BEN

What’s your role at Psychi?

Head Honcho!

When you’re not at Psychi HQ, how do you spend your spare time?

You’ll usually find me out climbing, on the road bike or fell-running - mostly in the Peak District and always followed by a pint in the pub.

What’s your favourite part of working at Psychi?

It’s great to have seen Psychi grow into an established UK brand from my first box of chalk balls back in 2013. Having my passion and work combined has always been the dream and working with like minded friends makes it even better!

Favourite piece of Psychi gear & why?

Our bouldering pads! They’re hardwearing and make the perfect landing for the training board at Psychi HQ!

What DO most people NOT know about you?

I’ve summited Mont Blanc 3 times, run an Ultra Marathon and walked to the most remote pub in the UK.

What’s on your bucket list?

To run the Cape Wrath Ultra Marathon, complete the Arctic Trail in Greenland and to climb ‘Masters Edge’.

JAMES

What’s your role at Psychi?

The official title is Business Development Manager but this also includes managing our sponsored athletes and ambassadors along with the wholesale side of the business.

When you’re not at Psychi HQ, how do you spend your spare time?

You are most likely to find me either climbing, at a heavy metal gig and exploring the bars of Manchester with my wife, or at Krav Maga training.

What’s your favourite part of working at Psychi?

My favourite part about working for Psychi is getting to spend time with all the athletes and ambassadors either getting some awesome video content or just having a good climb. I also love training on the wall we have at Psychi HQ, though it often means we don’t get much work done some days!

Favourite piece of Psychi gear & why?

This would have to be either the bouldering pads as they are so robust and feature-laden and extremely versatile as a garden chair when not being used at the crag or the beanies as they have kept my head super toastie all over the world!

What DO most people NOT know about you?

I once met Princess Diana when I was 4 years old and I gave her a bunch of flowers and then proceeded to cry when she went down to pick them up as I thought she was going to kiss me - this was all captured by a photographer and, unfortunately, put in the local paper!

What’s on your bucket list?

This is a big list so here is a tiny snippet! I would love to climb in Boulder, Colorado and also make a trip to Magicwood. I am also hoping to do a road trip around the NC500 in Scotland this year with Ben. I want to go to a summer skateboard competition and explore and go skateboarding in Alaska.

HANNAH

What’s your role at Psychi?

I’m the Social Media Manager. I’ve been in post for just under two weeks so I’m feeling pretty fresh but I’m really excited to see where the role takes me. It’s my job to create content for and develop Psychi’s social media platforms and I’m especially excited to explore interesting content options for our YouTube channel. Keep your eyes peeled for some new climbing content over there very soon!

When you’re not at Psychi HQ, how do you spend your spare time?

When I’m not at work, you’ll probably find me at my local climbing wall in Leeds or rambling in the Peak District. I’m also really passionate about film and photography. I upload my climbing progression and outdoors vlogs to my YouTube channel and I really enjoy the process of putting those videos together and learning new creative processes.

What’s your favourite part of working at Psychi?

I’ve only been in post since August 2020, so I'd have to say my favourite part has been starting! The Pyschi team was super welcoming (and introduced me to all the best local lunch spots!). They’ve eased any new job jitters I had and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.

Favourite piece of Psychi gear & why?

I haven’t taken off my Psychi crew since I started and I’m a big fan of the chalk bags. I’m a hopeless over-chalker so it’s critical that I get on with my chalk bag!

What DO most people NOT know about you?

Until the age of about 14, I wanted to become a professional football player. I was my school team captain and absolutely loved training and playing in local leagues. Then I started climbing and I had to choose between the two! I chose climbing - obviously!

What’s on your bucket list?

I’d love to do a huge road trip around the Pacific North West and I’m always trying to become a better all-round climber. The big dream is to convert a van to travel around Europe, though!

RIK

What’s your role at Psychi?

I do all our design stuff for products and marketing material and keep the website up to date. I also keep busy in the warehouse if I've been at my desk for too long.

When you’re not at Psychi HQ, how do you spend your spare time?

Depending on whether I'm in a healthy or a party mood, I'll either be running in the Peak District, cycling, in a pub and/or watching live music.

What’s your favourite part of working at Psychi?

I think my favourite part of working at Psychi would have to be the Psychi Festivals. It’s just great to get out and see people climbing and enjoying themselves!

Favourite piece of Psychi gear & why?

Definitely our big Duffle Bag - it’s bomb proof and I can fit most of my possessions in it.

What DO most people NOT know about you?

I like to get out into nature and forage for free food. I’ve also been known to DJ whenever anyone will let me.

What’s on your bucket list?

To run the Mongolia 100 Mile Race and the Cape Wrath Ultra.
